Soul Dinners presents FREEDOM: Beyond the Emancipation Proclamation featuring guest speaker, Joseph Herd. “God works through the hearts of man,” says Joseph. His storytelling will take us on the historic journey abolishing slavery beginning with the Emancipation Proclamation thru ratification of the 13th Amendment of the U. S. Constitution and the declaration of Juneteeth as a national holiday and with its own flag.

Joseph’s most important title is first, follower of Christ, second, husband and third, father; retired Deputy Chief, U.S. Probation Department; and between 2019-2022, he was a member of the Board of Education for the Grosse Pointe Public School System, having first been appointed then elected and at which time he also served as the Board's president.
